Academy of Science, aka AOS, is well known as a Science Magnet School in Loudoun County. Unlike the TJHSST, AOS students attend school on alternating days taking science, math, and research courses at the Academy, and the rest of the subjects in the base school on other days. 

Admission requirements:
 - full time resident of Loudoun County
 - must have taken Algebra 1 in 8th grade with a minimum grade of B. Learn more...

Application Part 1
1. Take PSAT in the fall (October), register through the Collegeboard website.
2. Writing sample on the same day as the SAT test and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory

Application Part 2 (done online, 2nd week of December)
3. Teacher recommendations (math and science 8th grade teachers only)
4. Short essay questions (limited to 250 words each answer)

- Learn how to highlight your strengths, and use some of your limitations as strengths.
- How to create a niche, and portray the "real" you.
- How to choose the correct activities to show the right ideas, organization, and the flow of the personal statement. 
- How to document the teacher recommendation. 
- How to answer short essay questions, similar to college admission essays.

Join the short essay workshop for AOS. This is similar to the TJHSST's Student Information Sheet. Both are comparable to mini-college application. What you will learn here will go beyond the AOS admissions process, as you will use the same skills in applying for internships, scholarships and colleges.
